Bought a used car from them back in the spring. After driving the Volvo for a week, the check engine light came on and the vehicle started sputtering. Had to pay $600 to replace a fuel rail sensor. Two weeks after that, the front headlight went out. Had to pay $450 for a new lighting ballast. Dealer promised the car had never been wrecked. After the Chassis Settings error light starting coming on last month, took it to a Volvo dealer. They said I need front new struts to the tune of $1800 and that they were bad from a prior accident which had left some frame damage. Frame damage!!!!!! And this dealer calims they are reputable????? How could they sell a car with frame damage!!!!!! Screw Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax!
This dealership uses every trick in the Salesman’s, “how to push a car out the door” handbook. I spent roughly 8 hours at the dealership, I spoke to six different people with various titles from costumer service rep to general sales manager. I did purchase a new vehicle and deeply regret the purchase. Stay away!!!!!
If I could give them 0 stars I would!
This is by far the worst dealership service I have ever received. I had a spark plug go bad in Jan 2010, and they recommended that all spark plugs be replaced. Eight months later one of the spark plugs blew out. After much research and actually speaking to the Ford Engineer in Dearborn who designed this engine for the 2004 Escape, they confirmed that there was no reason the spark plugs should have blown out of the car if they had been screwed in properly. So $800 later, I have to have it completely bored out and a new spark plug installed. I turn on the car and now I have an engine knock that wasn’t happening before the spark plug install. They claim all they can recommend is that I get a new engine. Now I find out that my transmission is completely gone and they won’t even give me a price to rebuild. After taking the car to AAMCO (VERY HELPFUL STAFF) I’ve been told that when they replaced my alternator (three times) they didn’t reset the ODB2 monitor – so the drive cycle tests are not complete”, there is another electronic issue that was problematic and caused the shut down of key electronic systems in the car, because of these electronic malfunctions – I didn’t receive any of the warnings I should have received and my transmission failed when I could have fixed it had I received those warnings. I have a leaking oil pan, warped rotors, rear shocks that are leaking, power steering fluid that should have been changes and spark plugs need to be cleaned now due to the problems with the engine.
NONE of this did Ted Britt ever tell me, or obviously service correctly, or I wouldn’t be having half of these problems. Just last month I made my last payment on this car and now it’s a worthless hunk of steel. Thanks so much Ted Britt for ruining my car and leaving a pregnant mother without transportation.
This dealership is a SHAM of crap service and idiots doing the service. Will never buy or bring another vehicle to Ted Britt. Also have reported them to Ford Headquarters – Dealership Management Division. Absolutely useless franchise that should have been shut down when Ford was re-organizing!
Only go here if you enjoy spending an entire day playing every old game in the book, as well as enjoy getting 6 different wrong answers to any question you have. To make it worse, they now deal Lincolns and still want to treat their customers as if they’re buying $999 specials off the street corner car lot. The only reason I went through with my purchase is because they were the only dealer with my MKZ Hybrid in stock. Otherwise, if you want any kind of a positive experience, go to the corner $999 special lot.
The ABS light always goes on after 15-29 miles of driving, which was verified by Goodyear Dealer. They recommended me to go to the Ford Dealer because they don’t have necessary equipment to diagnose the problem. So I came to the Quick lane at 11200 James Swart Circle, Fairfax, VA. They called me back in 2 hours and said that everything is fine with my car and completely ignored a written statement from Goodyear that the ABS light came on after 12 miles of driving. Then they told me that they will keep checking, 2 days past, nobody bothered to call me. I think it’s a nice denial strategy: they fail to detect what is wrong and therefore they don’t have to fix it. Obviously it’s not concern of theirs that my Mustang or every Mustang I’ve driven engages traction control EVERY time I have to turn up to a little hill on a wet road…. I don’t even have to mention slippery conditions during winter season. That’s why I always appreciated this feature, but now it’s turning itself off and won’t come back on until the engine is off for a while. I’ve read multiple people complaining about this, but FORD conveniently doesn’t care about any of this… this is your car and you are stuck with it… I take it as FORD Motor Company complete failure to provide drivers’ safety. I wanted to buy my next car there, but it’s not going to happen and I don’t recommend it to anybody else.
When I called initially to schedule an appointment I talked about getting my 36K mile maintenance before my warranty expired the following month. I asked for a price quote and was told it is $49.95. At 7AM Thursday Morning, I got a call from the service tech asking if I would like a transmission flush, when I asked the cost, and he told me $500 I declined, and stuck with the 36K mile service. When I got to the dealership, I was very surprised to see my bill of $107 for a service I was quoted at $49.95. Especially since I had nothing out of the ordinary done, the service was an oil change, a tire rotation and topping off of fluids. I think this is absolutely ridiculous, and when I expressed my dismay to the service manager, Steve Seymour, he simply told me Ted Britt’s prices are competitive. I got my most recent oil change and tire rotation for $39.95 less than 3 months ago, so I’m not exactly sure with whom your prices are competitve.
In short, your price quotes which conflict with actual charges puts you in the category of dishonest service centers, and as an extension, dishonest car dealerships.
You can be assured that I will never use Ted Britt Ford again, and hopefully the laws of economics will prevail, and Ted Britt’s sub-par service will cause the business to fail.
