ILLEGAL BAIT AND SWITCH. I went to Team Nissan in Lithia Springs today to purchase a 2011 Nissan Armada. They told me the vehicle was a Nissan Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle. When I arrived and after I test drove the vehicle, they would not produce the inspection or certified pre-owned warranty paperwork and would not honor the price that they advertised online, even when I produced a copy of the advertisement. I was told by the used car manager that they had someone coming after me willing to pay more money and they had advertised the same vehicle on several different sites for different prices. Extremely unethical and illegal. I am a Veteran and today is Memorial Day, which makes this experience even more disrespectful. Beware.
Be very, very careful when dealing with this business! We had what we thought was a done deal – made via email and phone. Specific vehicle promised on a specific day, even paid $2,000 deposit. Salesman confirmed delivery appt with numerous emails and phone conversations knowing we lived 300 miles from dealership. No further communication after confirmation email. We drove the 300 miles / 5 hours and then when we contacted Sheldon (Salesman) to announce our arrival time, he informed us the vehicle was not there. We turned around, disgusted and furious and drove 300 miles / 5 hours back home. Absolutely, positively deceptive advertising and selling. Called to speak with general mgr Steve Szempruch. following day. I asked to be reimbursed for our expenses (mileage only, not even meals or time) as we were lured falsely into making the trip for delivery. He admitted their “mistake” but said that covering our expenses without selling a car was “not a good business model.” He still wanted to sell us a car! As if lying and causing customer to spend their money for nothing is a good business model. Idiotic. I would run, not walk from these guys. If they do this stuff knowingly, its criminal – I’ll definitely be filing a complaint with the state Consumer Protection Agency and FCC.
The general manager spoke with us today. I feel like we were treated more than fairly. What an incredibly polite man! He went above and beyond what we expected. He really tried to earn our respect and keep our business and he has. We will definatley return and will refer people to his dealership.
