Dealer coerce us to a credit check by invoking the USA Patriot Act, the 2001 federal anti-terrorism law. I arrived with prearranged financing. So they wouldn’t pull my credit. My score is 814 and my wife is 795 we like to keep it that way. During the process as I was filling out paperwork for the title I asked why is this a credit application. It was explained that it is the only legal form they can use to enter our information in the credit union system (CUDL). Then I find out they pulled my wife and my credit report. I questioned it and was given the “Patriot Act” requires it. After talking to my Attorney and Google it. I found out this is a scam done by dealership. If you have prearranged financing they “Are not required to pull your credit” They do it to see if they can get you a better rate with their banks. I now know why they are the highest volume dealer. I see by law if I suffer any damages I can sue for up to $1000.00 in damages in Washington. We all know that it cost more in court cost so they get away with it. Be cautious they say they don’t sale extended warranties but then they hit you with sale service plans. They pull your credit because they say there require too. I will never buy another vehicle from them and will share my story with others. The best part is we got a bright yellow Daytona Charger so everyone likes to come up and talk about the car. I will share with all till they admit it was wrong. If one person reads this review and goes to differ dealership then maybe someday they will get the message not lie to get a sale. I was giving them the asking price. I don’t understand why they would do the credit check. Bob
Run from Tacoma Dodge, I purchased a new truck from them with a trade in two weeks ago. I am now making payments on both vehicles. If this happens to you please file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and the DMV.
Below is a copy of my complaint,
I believe Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep to be in violation of line 2 of WAC 308-66-195
“(2) If there is a lienholder on any vehicle acquired by the dealer, the dealer must obtain possession of the title by paying off any balance due to the lienholder no later than the close of the second business day following the date of acquisition of the vehicle by the dealer. For purposes of this section, if a dealer takes possession of a vehicle as a trade-in, a dealer acquires that trade-in vehicle when the dealer takes possession of the vehicle and unconditionally sells another vehicle for which the trade-in vehicle is part of the price in accordance with RCW 46.70.180(4).”
And possibly RCW 19.116.050
“A dealer engages in an act of unlawful transfer of ownership interest in motor vehicles when all of the following circumstances are met:
(1) The dealer does not pay off any balance due to the secured party on a vehicle acquired by the dealer, no later than the close of the second business day after the acquisition date of the vehicle; and
(2) The dealer does not obtain a certificate of title under RCW 46.70.124 for each used vehicle kept in his or her possession unless that certificate is in the possession of the person holding a security interest in the dealer’s inventory; and
(3) The dealer does not transfer the certificate of title after the transferee has taken possession of the motor vehicle.”
On Saturday 7/27/2013 I purchased a new vehicle from Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep. As part of this purchase I traded in a used vehicle with a balance due to a lien holder (B.E.C.U.). The seller agreed to pay off the balance to to the lien holder, this is documented in the “Retail Installment Sale Contract” and in the “Vehicle Buyers Order” that I have attached. There is a payment due to the lien holder on 8/13/2013, the dealer documented this but I unfortunately did not get a copy of that paper work. I was verbally assured that they would get the pay off amount to the lien holder before the next payment was due.
I would Like to note that I did not check the box acknowledging there arbitration clause, this can be seen in the attached documents.
As of Saturday 8/10/2013 the dealer has not paid the balance due or made contact with the lien holder.
I went to the dealer in person the morning of 8/10/2013 and asked to speak with a manager. I asked why the lien was not paid and told the manager that there is a payment due on 8/13/2013. I could not get a solid answer, I was told that “the check to the lien holder is probably in the mail” and “the check could just be sitting on somebody’s desk”.
I asked if they could verify that a check had in fact been written and I was told “the woman that writes the checks works in the building across the street”. I asked if they could call her, I was told “She has today off, we can’t call her”.
I explained to the manager my findings in WAC 306-66-195 and I was told, “no law like that exists”, “I have never seen or heard of a law like that”, “we have as much time as we need to secure money from your new lien to pay off your old lien”
I commented that this could possibly be a breach of contract, I then asked the manager if he knew where my trade in was. He responded with “I don’t know where it is”. I asked if he could find it and he said “I don’t think I could find it, we could have sold it by now”. This lead me to believe there is a possible RCW 19.116.050 violation.
I explained to the manager again that there is a payment due to the lien holder on 8/13/2013 and that if I can not get confirmation from the lean holder of the balance being paid off by 12:00pm Monday 8/12/2013 I would make a payment myself to assure that my credit is not damaged by a late payment. The manager responded by telling me “It won’t count as a late payment if it is less then 30 days passed due”. We went back and fourth on this for a minute or so, I realized I was not going to be getting anywhere by talking to the dealer so I told the manager that I will be seeking legal help and left.
At first they seemed nice. Then after you signed the paperwork, the backed out of promises. First they told us we have 45 days to register car. He also told us that car comes with 1 year free Sirius satellite radio. Next we waited for 1 hour 30 minutes before we sign the paperwork. But when we were in there with said Eric the business manager, he WAS SO RUDE and just kept brushing us off. We asked when they would mail the paperwork to Montana and was told the next business day Monday. When we were leaving and I complained about Eric to a different salesperson and we were told that Eric was just overworked Throughout that week, we kept calling Chad or Doug and they were pretend to said its being taken care off. Then we spoke to Billy the office manager and she was more rude and short! Finally got a call on the 5th business day and it was being mail out that day! They promised NEXT BUSINESS DAY. But that isn’t our only problem with this dealership. When I complained about it to Doug the manager, he said If you give us a 5 star rating, we would install a heated seat for you. But that still didn’t take care of our registration problem and fake radio information about the vehicle we purchased!
We haven’t been here at FT Lewis that long but wished we WOULD HAVE READ BAD Reviews about this dealership before we came here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anybody shopping at this place. They are DISHONEST, UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL.
Wife stopped by dealer to have new cell phone added to hands free, (U-Connect) system. They worked on trying to get phone connected and erased my phone from system, no other phone will install anymore. U-connect system will not do anything now. I took car back to dealer who said “NOT THEIR PROBLEM”.
They said that since I had an extended warranty, they would fix for $ 100 deductable charge. Complete U-Connect price on sticker is $ 350. I contacted Dodge factory, who contacted dealer and then came back to me and said that for $ 100 it will be fixed. Complete Dodge Company down to dealers are a bunch of know-nothings and not customer caring. Tacoma Dodge service arrangers, managers and techs are not competent to provide service and support. Besides, they have over a two month wait for parts to fix my problem. DO NOT BUY A DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP, ESPECIALLY FROM TACOMA DODGE OR HAVE SERVICE PERFORMED THERE!!!:mad::mad::mad::(:(:(:(
My wife and I just recently purchased a 2011 Ram 2500 diesel pickup from Tacoma Dodge. The purchase went very smooth, only ten minutes of negotiations and the truck was ours. I want to thank the Tacoma Dodge crew for the easy buying experience. They are most polite people we ever bought a car from. They spent hours showing us all the new gadgets we had. I did some price comparisons on running boards and Tacoma Dodge had the best price, we had them installed. Thank you!
I do not like to shop around for cars. Tacoma Dodge made it real simple for me so I didn’t have to. The salesmen were very responsive to my questions and sought out the answers I was looking for. We made a trip into Tacoma Dodge to check them out and bought the vehicle we wanted and are very pleased with it.
This last buying purchase at Tacoma Dodge was the most pleasant I have ever had. The sales manager was really easy to work with. He answered all my questions and could relay differences between the models of cars they had. I never once felt pressured to make a decision, I was allowed to digest all the information. I told them I would return with a decision, they gave me no pressure as I left. This played a big role in making the decision of which car I was going to buy. I have no problem going back to Tacoma Dodge in the future and buying again. I would highly recommend Tacoma Dodge to anyone that is in the car buying market, I walked away feeling great about the decision I had made.
I want to thank Tacoma Dodge for a great buying experience. No hassle, no haggle just doing whatever it takes to make a satisfied customer…and they sure did. The sales staff was accommodating and was available to answer all my questions. They even took the time to show me additional features of the car after the purchase. They took the time to understand the vehicle I was looking for and the time frame I was working in and excelled at both. I would definitely recommend friends and family to Tacoma Dodge. My mom is coming in the spring, from out of state, to purchase a new Jeep. Thank you so much!

Absolutely!
We went to Tacoma Dodge looking for a used Journey. Didn’t really like the one we saw on the lot. Talked to a salesman. Told him EXACTLY what we were looking for. He got us to drive a car well above our price range. It was an awesome! car. But, not within our price range. Then he showed us a 2009 Journey that we had not seen on the lot. We drove it. Liked it. Went through the haggling process. Got the pymnts down to slightly above what we wanted to pay (we are upside down on our trade), but we would still be saving $60 month on insurance not to mention the savings on gas. Signed the contracts and took the car home. Next day find our car listed on cars.com (same vin) for $6000 less than Mike, the salesman, told us it was “On Sale” for. 3 days later Billie from the finance department calls and says they have the finance paperwork finalized and we need to go in and sign it. She tries to raise the monthly payment $200! We have to haggle again! Thought we did this already. Shouldnt the dealership be held accountable by the contracts just like we would be? After I tell her NO to three more dollar amounts we tell her to give us our old car back. The salesman called us the next day and tried to get us back in there, told us they would be losing money on it, etc..It is now 3 days after we took our vehicle back, changed our insurance back to the original vehicle, explained numerous times to family and friends why we are driving our old car and they have re-listed the journey on cars.com for $6000 less than what they told us it was priced!
They are dishonest! I have since learned that Tacoma Dodge is known for being dishonest and cheating people. I even met a salesman who said he left Tacoma Dodge because of the way they do business and how they treat customers. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! 😡
I know exactly how you feel…I am still trying to get into a second vehicle myself…they let me drive off the lot with a vehicle they hadn’t got me approved for and then talk to me days later and say they can’t get me approved but they try to get me into something cheaper, around 10000. Then they call me 2 days later to say they need more money down. And to top it off they had the wrong sticker price on the vehicle I wanted in the first place which bumped it up $4000…I wish I’d read this review sooner
