I got a Dodge grand caravan from Sherman about 6 months back. That was the worst decision I could take. Can’t blame anyone. Did not get any great deal. I was never worried since the car was the one i wanted.
First I found that there was no wiping fluid. I just purchased the fluid and filled it myself. Didn’t bother.
Last night I got a flat tyre driving on freeway. And there comes the shock – no spare tyre.I remember my sales rep Robert king from sherman dodge telling me the location of spare tyre.
I have been trying to reach Robert king for the past 2 hours. No response. Now that car is sold, no-one bothers to reply to your call.
Last night I found that that the long handle to unscrew the spare tyre bolt is also missing. I have not got my car services yet- so there is no possibility of anything going missing in servicing.
Anyone buying car from sherman – i would suggest checking each and everything. Best option would be to take a mechanic to check everything even if it is a new car. With Sherman – you never know what you are getting.
Oh, where to begin? (STAY AWAY FROM SHERMAN DODGE) I originally saw an awesome price on Autotrader for a 2011 Charger basic model, the price was $22,190. I called and spoke with James and explained to him that all I look for is honesty and explained to him that I would be trading in a 2006 Jetta. Now, I am not naive and I know that there is usually a catch to things and dealers have a bad reputation… but Sherman Dodge brought this to a whole new level. Lets be clear, the discounts that were applied to this price were $2,500 for trading in a 2010 or 2011 vehicle (never mentioned to me after I told him my trade) and also a $500 for military, $500 for dealer cash and $500 from Dodge (I believe). The first thing they did was write down a bunch of numbers and then cross out the ones that did not apply, thus bringing the price of the car up to $25,190. I then managed to get them to say they would be give me $8,000 for my trade.. with me still owing $9,500 (no big deal). However, this is where it started getting even more shady than when I was falsely led to believe what the price of the car was.
Now, if you know anything about how the trade in works… it goes something like this: The dealer cuts a check to who ever you have your trade-in financed through and the remaining balance can either be paid off by you or rolled into the price of the vehicle. Hence, I owe $9,500 and they would give me $8,000, leaving me with $1,500 to be responsible for (I completely understand that). However, this is where the number games began.
The salesperson (Willy (or Willie)) tried telling me that since they are giving me $8,000 for my trade, I would only have to finance $17,190 and then I would write a check to my credit union of the Jetta loan for only $1,500. RED FLAG began popping up right here. They then told me that my payments would be a bit over $400/month for 60months at 3.49% and around $490/month for 72months. IF you do the math, I would actually be financing around $26,000. OF course, they NEVER disclosed the true amount until I showed them I did the math myself and they tried doing damage control.
Another thing that bothered me is the run down building that they do business in. I walked inside and it reminded me of the movie “Used Cars.” The building looked like it was falling apart and they didn’t have a single employee that kept the area clean. If you want to do business, at least keep the facility clean and have the salesmen keep their ties tight and shirts buttoned. The salesperson I dealt with ranged from being nice and joking with me to being completely rude. I was explaining that I would like the Jetta key back after they did the appraisal, I wanted to avoid them holding onto my key so I couldn’t leave. He then rudely put his finger in my face (yes, this did happen) and said “excuse me, let me straight…” The manner in which this was done was completely rude and it took a lot for me to hold my tongue.
Yes, they do have a large volume of cars. But save yourself the hassle and go to a reputable dealer that cares about the way they present themselves. Yes, the majority of dealers are not the most honest places, but I have dealt with dealers that are not nearly as bad as Sherman Dodge. All in all, STAY AWAY FROM SHERMAN DODGE!! Even if you think you’re getting a good deal, they are finding a way to take you to the cleaners.
I recommend to go to Gurnee Dodge more than anything. They will treat you much better and you will enjoy your experience much more.
Buyer beware to not even attempt to do business with this dealership they are terrible. I had the worst experience ever!! I spoke with a salesman for over a week about one particular car that they had. I live over 3 hours away from the dealership. I set up an appointment to come down an look at the car. I drove all the way down there to look at the car spent my entire day down there. I gave them a $500.00 cash deposit on the vehicle and signed paperwork and set up a delivery date for two days later for me to come back down 3 1/2 hours again to get this car. I was to pick the car up on a tuesday night at 5 o’clock. I had two managers call me the previous night confirming my appointment for the car. I told them that I would be there at 5 to pick the car up. I also spoke with two salesman throughout the whole deal. I get a call tuesday about an hour before I was going to leave and they tell me that they had a “small” mix up. They SOLD THE CAR even though I had a cash deposit and a delivery date all figured out. The manager proceeded to tell me that he did not care about me because they had customers who fly in. They screwed me and I have read many bad reports on the Better Business Bureau about these freaks.
I was an idiot for falling for Sherman Dodge’s scam. They advertised a price of $16,299 plus a $1,5000 trade in, confirmed it over the phone, then acted like that was going to be the price until it was time to sign. The salesman showed me a bunch of numbers on a scrap piece of paper totaling $340 a month and asked me to initial it. I asked if this was only for 4 years and he said 6. I asked how much the vehicle cost and he asked “what did you get?” He then went to speak to his manager. I should have left right there. It turns out I wasn’t eligible for the advertised price, and following a lot of pressuring I foolishly both the vehicle, not realizing they only gave me a $1,000 trade in or that they had added a $1,000 transportation fee to the msrp until I found the vehicle sticker hidden underneath the passenger seat. Go there at your own risk.
