I called Saturday because I woke up to about an inch of water in my front passenger seat foot well of my 2000 Ford Focus. It had rained, but not that hard. Since it was the second time this has happened, I did some research and found out it is a design flaw in the Ford Focus having to do with the cowl and the filter and water draining down through the AC.
I decided to call Sheehy Ford instead of my regular mechanic because it seemed to be a Ford problem. I spoke to a service manager (I really wish I could remember his name now). He was very helpful and told me he knew what I was talking about and that I could bring my car in. A special tech would look at it and if it was part of the design flaw, it would be covered. As in – I don’t have to pay for it. If it wasn’t the design flaw, I would have to pay a $60 diagnostic fee and then from there, any repairs I chose to make.
I brought the car in at 7:00 this morning as I was told, and got an ENTIRELY different story. Mary at the service desk first told me that the diagnostic cost was $120, double my original quote. Then that the tech wasn’t even in until 8:00. Then that the repairs would NOT be covered by Ford. She couldn’t even give me a rough estimate of how much it would cost, she just wanted me to blindly agree to $120 upfront without any idea of what would happen after that. She also could not tell me why I was told something totally different on the phone. Mary tried to say that I couldn’t expect Ford to cover a repair on a 10 year old car like that. I’m sorry, I didn’t really think that Ford would cover the repair when I first found the problem. But when I called to inquire about this problem that seems to be very common, I was told they would. I am not an idiot and I will not be taken advantage of like that.
I love my car, and I’m sorry that I believe it should last me more than 10 years. Ford should hope their cars last that long, too. I am planning on buying a new car within the next 2 years and had always thought of buying a new Focus. I now no longer know that I will be, and if I do, it certainly won’t be from Sheehy, because apparently the price I’m initially told will be doubled and then I’ll only get the freaking tires!
This was the best service experience I’ve ever had. I was in Gaithersburg working and need regular maintenance. I have a Honda Accord but I heard that Ford dealers have a Quicklane that handles all makes. So I gave it a shot.
I was greeted promptly when I pulled up. A technician came out checked my tires and battery as soon as I arrived. The service advisor Mary wrote the order quickly, she said it would take about 30 minutes.
So I walked around the lot and a helpful (not pushy) salesperson showed me the new Ford Taurus. Wow what a great car. He also explained that Ford is going great and has introduced several new vehicles. I did not know all this. It’s great to see an American Car company going so well and introducing so many new and exciting products.
I got a call on my cell 27 minutes after turning over my keys letting me know that my car was ready. Surprise! They even washed it.
These guys are going a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.
