To Whom This May Concern,
I cannot recommend going here to anyone, and I’m being nice by saying it this way. trust me.
After $3,000.00+ dollars worth of repair work having to have been done on my truck in less than a year, I have come to a reasonable conclusion that there are very “far and few between” honest places to have your vehicle worked on these days, and this place is definitely no exception.
FYI, my truck is a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 diesel.
July 06: I originally had to take my truck in to have it checked because it stalled one day and wouldn’t start for about an hour. I took it to the dealer asap and they said that I had to replace the fuel injectors AND fuel pressure regulator: = $1,550.00 dollars. Neither one was still under warranty(they had just expired recently, what a coincidence). My Service Speciaist at this time was Ralph.
Aug 07: Had same problem with truck only this time I had to have it towed to the dealership. The Service Specialist Supreme by the name of Ken called me right away and stated that my vehicle started right away for them and after diagnostic check was done, the vehicle seemed fine. Seemed dis-interested to pursue anything further in order to actually find answer to problem.
After I explained to him the issue again(even though he was there when truck was towed in, kind of a dead give-away that there’s a major problem), he decided to acknowledge that more work would be necessary to find problem (duhh). He then stated to explain to me that he would have to charge me even more for a what would now be considered an “IN-DEPTH” diagnostic check. He explained that they would have to get deeper into the engine to find problem, and basically, take out larger vehicle components to do this.
OK FINE,
so the diagnostic check price goes from around $75-100 to $300-$350 + dollars(again, keep in mind, this is just to diagnose further). I was called a few days later to be told that the Fuel Injector pump was leaking and this would cause major issues if not taken care of right away, and, of course, NOT UNDER WARRANTY anymore. Who would have thought that this alone would raise the bill to, yup, you guessed it “$1,500.00 dollars”!!
What a coincidence. Such a coincidence that I just had to ask, so i did. When I got there to pick up the truck I asked Ralph(my Service Specialist from the original time) if this leaky Fuel injector pump could have been the problem from the beginning(last July), he said, without even a hesitation, it’s very possible. No kidding!! My wife was standing right there when he said it. That is absolutely incredible, they may have diagnosed the problem wrong from the getgo. WOW, needless to say, this is really starting to get on my nerves, as I do believe it would get on anyones nerves.
OK FINE!!
so I had the work done and received the truck back, which took a little over a week. As soon as I received the truck back(not even a day later), there began an “Awful Sqeaking Noise” coming from the engine area. This was not a problem BEFORE the truck was taken to the Service Dept.!! I REPEAT, IT WAS NOT AN EXISTING PROBLEM!!
I immediately took the truck back and was told by Ralph that it was a squeaky belt. He then proceeded to take a piece of chalk and rubbed it on the belt(while the truck was running) and this caused the problem to stop (at least temporarily, like 1 day). He told me that this was probably caused by moisture on the belt, and that something greasy might have gotten on the belt during service. KEEP IN MIND, AFTER ALL, there was an “IN-DEPTH” check and “REPAIR” just done to the truck!!
I should have complained about this issue right away and made a huge deal over it, but honestly, I thought(gave the benefit of the doubt to my local dealership Service Dept.,…big mistake….again) that the problem would go away,…after all, I just had to deal with yet another $1,500 dollar issue right? I figured that if it didn’t go away(and since I noted it with someone right away = Ralph), that the Service Dept. would understand what just happened.
NO SUCH LUCK!!!
I called a few days later and Ken in Service decided to chalk it up to coincidence. That’s right!!! COINCIDENCE!! Even though this was not an issue that was wrong with the truck BEFORE I brought it in. Even though I would have mentioned it if was an issue before I brought the truck in. EVEN THOUGH, Ken had admitted himself that there was NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK before the “IN-DEPTH” check was done and a problem was found!!! Aahaa!!! He AND the mechanic would have heard a badly squeaking belt, right? WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!
HOWEVER!!!, instead of taking care of a minor problem that was obviously caused by the repair job, he was instead, nice to, oh so generously, explain to me how things just get old and need to be replaced, like his recent refrigerator problem. WTF is that?
Coincidence can only go so far guys!!
