I had a problem with my 2013 CRV. The car had 3 batteries, and was making a grinding noise on start up. After many phone calls, internet posts, service appointments, Honda City finally took care of me. They got into a 2014 while keeping my same payments. I end up paying a bit more, but I am erasing 13,000 miles of wear and tear from the 2013 CRV. I originally posted a very negative review, however it have much respect for a company that takes care of a problem. Everyone was very accommodating and nice when we came to exchange the 2013 for the 2014. They were great to work with, and so far I am very happy with my 2014 CRV.
Do not buy a car here. They will rip you off. I bought a brand new 2013 CRV from them less than a year ago. I’ve now had the car serviced 4 times already. 4 times for the car battery running low, and once for a grinding noise at start up. The battery has been replaced twice within a year, and they’ve done nothing about the noise because they could not replicate it. I’m convinced this car will just continue to have issues. When I explain this to service, they look at me like I’m crazy, and are rude. I shouldn’t have to have a brand new car serviced this often. When I suggested the car should be replaced, I was blown off. I am currently working with corporate Honda customer care to see if the company will resolve this issue. If I knew I would have to get this much service done, I would have saved myself thousands of dollars and purchased a used car. No service after the sale. Avoid this place at all costs!!
I have been dealing with this dealer since 2005. Service dept is SECOND TO NONE!! Had fog lamps, rear spoiler, chrome exhaust tip & body side mouldings installed. Arrived at 8:00 am which was pre arranged. Waited for vehicle. By 10:45 am was on my way home. Did a perfect job with the install. Have always had good experience here and will continue to purchase Honda products.
By the way, I purchased this CRV new in April 2011 from Boyland Honda who did beat Honda City’s Sales dept. by almost $1,000. However I continue using Honda City Service Dept. because of past experience which has been nothing but great!!
DISHONEST. INSULTING.
Get EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY VERBAL CLAIM in writing.
Call HONDA CORPORATE directly to report problems.
Dealerships cannot lie about car maintenance records anymore because of CARFAX. This particular dealership has found other ways to misrepresent their cars by making verbal claims that are not true.
Long story short, I was told that the car I was interested in had new brakes and tires in order to raise it to the level of Hondas’ strict standards of certification. This was a very important tipping point in my decision to buy the car. Obviously, I thought I would not have major expenses for quite a while.
The car would not start within 2 months of buying it, so I called the salesman. He transferred me to the service department. The service department told me to call a specific towing company and have it towed in immediately. Fair enough.
Had the car towed to service. Service desk asked what was wrong. Told them it wouldn’t start, don’t know why, only know it’s certified and it has new brakes and new tires. Girl at service desk said there was NO RECORD OF THEM INSTALLING NEW BRAKES OR TIRES, only changing the oil.
I confronted salesman. Told him I’d been lied to, that he told me repeatedly that the car had new brakes and new tires. He said “how did you find out????!!!”
Talked to used car manager. He intimated that I had confused this car with another car I looked at. I only looked at one car at this dealership. He was shifty, rude and couldn’t get away from me fast enough.
Turns out the car wouldn’t start because the battery was dead. Yes a certified car’s battery can die within 2 months. They told me that “I should have had the battery charged instead of towed”. I told them…”THEIR SERVICE MANAGER told me to have it towed!!”
I called Honda corporate. They said that the dealership told me to have the battery charged because charging the battery will fill the cell and it will read as an OK battery. In other words, it would give a false reading and they would be in the clear.
Upon further discussion with HONDA corporate we discussed the new brakes and tires lie. They did not seem surprised…this must be the latest thing….We opened a case and said I should expect a call from the dealership within 48 hours. NEVER got a call. Checked my records. Turns out, they had the wrong phone number on my receipt. Guess what? This is also a trick to avoid calling back customers.
They pull every trick in the book.
I am usually not a complainer, but I really hate being lied to and treated in a disrespectful condescending manner….REPEATEDLY.
I will not return to this dealership even for service. I wouldn’t trust them to water my plants.
BEWARE.
This has to have been my worst car buying experience.
We went in looking to trade in two 2008 cars, and were told we would be able to trade them in for market value to upgrade to 2012 Civics. Their offers amazingly came back at just what was still owed on both vehicles. When we were quoted pricing, we asked numerous times if it was the final pricing, and not dependent on credit and we were continuously assured that those would be the exact numbers.
Nope. They “couldn’t approve” anything because Honda was then closed (and Bill left us at the desk for long stretches of time for no reason), but they assumed it would go through in the morning but our payments could be as much as $50 more per month that we were originally guaranteed.
When we decided to leave, they tried to pressure us into leaving the titles to our cars to hold the 2 Civics saying that they expected Saturday to be very busy, and seemed shocked that we were unwilling to do so. Both Bill and everyone else we talked to the next day were rude and condescending. They would only confirm that our applications were approved but kept claiming that they didn’t know what the pricing would be, and that we should just come in.
No thank you. Never again.
If I could I would give them zero stars.
Went here to purchase a 2011 Odyssey. This was the first dealership my wife and I went to. Took the test drive checked out all the features told the salesman we would be purchasing in the next 3 weeks and this was just a research trip to figure out if the Odyssey was for us. He took us in to the office and said what will it take for you to take this today. Should have known then I was in for a ride. Told him again we are still looking at other vans and will know in three weeks.
His manager (or who said he was the manager) came over and told us about the limited time financing. We asked him about the accessories and the warranty. This is what he said, if we wanted the accessories to be covered under the original warranty and not void any other warranties we would have to add the accessories before taking delivery. He continued to say that if we wanted to add them after we would have to do this at a Honda dealership where it would not void any warranty if the accessory caused a problem on a different part with a different warranty and would have a 12 month warranty on the accessories that were installed.
All I have to say is LIE LIE LIE.
Later, I spoke with the service department at a different dealership as if I already owned the van and looked up the warranty from Honda.
If certified Honda parts or accessories are added to a Honda vehicle by a certified Honda Dealer the parts and accessories will have a warranty the longer of two cases
1. The length of the vehicle’s original warranty
2. 12 months from the purchase of the certified Honda part or accessory.
If certified Honda parts or accessories are added to a Honda vehicle by a non-certified Honda Dealer the parts and accessories will have a warranty 12 months from the purchase of the certified Honda part or accessory.
Certified Honda parts will not void any Honda warranty.
Before I knew about the warranty lie, when we were ready to purchase we received internet quotes. Honda City was not the lowest but we decided to see if they would be willing to negotiate since they did spend time with us for the test drive. We told them about the other internet quotes and they had to beat the price of the lowest to make a deal. We presented a low offer to get the negotiating ball rolling. The salesman was flabbergasted that we would ask such and wanted to see the quotes. We said why do you need to see the quotes you know what your invoice is. We said give us a lower price and we’ll see if we can work something out.
He passed us to another more “seasoned” salesman who said, “What’s this that you want to negotiate the internet price?” We said yes 4 other dealers have lower prices so start moving down. He claimed to do the internet pricing and said that he knows the other prices. Ok, so why don’t you go down on your price? Boyland, Wilde, Russ Darrow, and David Hobbs all had lower prices. We said we are here to give you the first chance at selling us the car since Honda City took time to show us the van.
He said look this is an internet quote and it is non-negotiable. My response was well then we are done here. His face changed to shock. We can go to anyone of these other dealers and get a lower price without negotiating. He began attacking the other dealers saying “I could give you a piece of paper with any price on it too.” Claiming they will just raise the price on me when I get there. He also informed us that as we go to other dealers we would appreciate them for being honest.
Well actually we hated them more and more as we went to four other dealers to negotiate a price. All the other dealers except one were willing to negotiate with us. And the one that didn’t was very polite and said we don’t have that car in stock and would have to do too much work sorry we cannot make that deal today but please let us know if we can help you in the future. The cake topper was when I found out about the accessories and the warranty.
Bottom line: Honda City uses hard sales tactics, dishonest, and they know it so they want to close the sale before you realize it. Shop around and you too will see.
Never be afraid to walk away from the table if you are not getting what you want. Salesman need you more than you need them.
I purchased a Pilot in 2005 from Peter and the deal went smoothly. I am a returning customer and was working with him again. After months of numbers back and forth we came to an agreement which included lease price including tax and taking my 2005 pilot back paying off of the lease knowing there was over mileage. When I got to the dealership everything was fine until I was going to sign the papers and I asked where the papers were that Honda City was paying off my lease and they said they were returning it back to Honda so I did not have to pay anything and neither did the dealership. I inquired farther and asked if I was going to be charged the over mileage in addition to my new monthly payment and Peter came back and said yes. We both agreed that everything was to be covered in the new lease payment including the over mileage and guess what it was not true. I wasted my time and I am insulted and will never trust Honda City. Peter thought since I was a women I would not ask or inquiry I guess (wrong). I hope Peter is happy that he lost a loyal customer. BEWARE and ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS BEFORE SIGNING PAPERS.
I am a woman and this was my first solo car buying experience. I had been searching for a car for about 6 months. I had been to a few dealerships and each one I went to kept trying to pressure me to purchase a vehicle which I couldn’t afford. I told them what I was looking for and they kept on. Finally I took a drive down Hwy100. I drove around a few lots, not really wanting to get out of the car.
I got to Honda City and was approached by Brian. He was very nice and gave me a few options. All of which were based on what we had discussed. I ended up Leasing a new Accord for less than what I had paid to purchase my used car. I had a great car buying experience and would never think to go elsewhere. I love my car and recommend Schlossmanns Honda City to everyone I know! 😀
Brenda was fantastic! She greeted me when I was outside looking at there different used cars. I wasnt sure what I really wanted and before this I have never had a good experience. She asked me what I was looking for and I said I had no clue. She must have asked me 50 questions before I drove anything. She took time to actually find out what would work best for me. I finally found the perfect car,a 2006 Honda Civic that was certified. Brenda explained to me the benefits of certified vs. none. She was very genuine and cared about helping me instead of her paycheck. I would recommend her and this dealership to anyone. It’s hard to find a dealership to trust and a salesperson. I finally did!
The Sales Lady was high pressure and tried to keep me from going any place else. There were continuous insults about the other Honda dealers in the Milwaukee area. When confronted with the price I’d been offered by another dealer and my refusal to listen to the drawbacks of that specific dealer; the sales manager (who assisted the sales lady) got up and left. His quote, I believe was something to the effect of ” I have a business to run and I can’t give it away. You’ve been quoted a price.”
I WOULD NOT recommend Schlossman’s Honda to anyone.
I bought a used car from them a couple of years ago, which they claimed had never been in any kind of accident whatsoever. For some reason I thought I could believe them, and did not bother running a history on it. Well, I tried to sell it a couple of months ago and a potential buyer decided to run the VIN on it. Low and behold, the car and sustained some major front end damage during a head on collision. They had repaired the damage and then lied to me about it. I hate liars. They have a couple of them working for them.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I leased a vechile through this dealership for 5 years; my parents also have been loyal customers, and leased a vechile through Honda City for 3 years. At the end of my lease, I met with a sales person who completely misrepresented the lease return process through the dealership; unfortunately, I relied upon his misrepresentations in making the decision to purchase a $14,000.00 vechicle, rather than purchasing the leased vehicle. The misrepresentations resulted in over $2,000 in unexpected fees that I was charged for the return of the leased vehicle (the dealer had represented that any fees, at most, would be negligible). After over 60 days of trying to work with multiple representatives from Honda City in resolving the charges, I had been lied to repeatedly, phone calls were not returned, and in the end I wound up paying the full amount of the charges. Their behavior is appalling and I would NEVER set foot in this dealership again. Honda Dealer Services is investigating into this situation, as we lodged a formal complaint.
Doug, store manager, conducts himself in a highly unprofessional manner. Everything was fine, until we purchased the vehicle. After purchase the things we were promised were not followed through on like up graded floor mats, and 3 free oil changes. When approached about the subject Doug either ignored my phone calls, or was very rude with snippity responses. I will never purchase another vhel=icle from Scholssmann’s again.
I stopped in the dealership on my way home from lunch ,to inquire about a 2009 honda pilot. I was shown the available cars that were in stock and given information and left. No high pressure. The sales man called me about a vehicle coming in and gave me a price quote. After considering the price which was rock bottom ,I put money down and bought the car as soon as it came in. I was a pleasant buying experience unlike my past two experiences with my two previous honda pilots at another dealership. After two weeks i stopped in again to find out how some of the features worked and was pleasntly surprised at the helpfulness of the staff, and time they offered just because i was a customer of their dealership. Now thats customer service. Dr. JN
I was in search of a car for over 3 months. I was looking for something sporty that could be taken anywhere. Straight line, turns, tracks, tight roads, etc etc. I found the ’08 S2000 CR. It was everything i wanted it to be. I go around all the Honda Dealers in South Milwaukee. Wilde Honda included, but they did not have the CR. Unfortunately for me, i go to Schlossmann’s Honda and i find my dream car. The Berlina Black CR with the A/C package. I quickly jump on it. Now i had $4500 for the down payment but the dealer some how tricked me into believing i was buying the car for $34000. What i did not realize was that the bast*** gave me that price AFTER deducting it from my downpayment. So in reality, when you factor in the $4*** interest, $2*** taxes, AND my $4500 downpayment, the total becomes somewhere around $44000. It is my fault as well for not catching it but i believe that i should be the victim here if anything. They jipped me $44000 and now i’m stuck with $650 monthly payments for 60 mo. Thank you Schlossmann’s for being so truthful, honest, and oh so clarifying.
😡 I purchased a CRV from this dealership. Car was OK along with salesperson however finance manager had no knowledge of title transfers for out of state vehicles. It took several phone calls to get this straightened out.
I bought an used Honda Accord from Schlossmann’S Honda City Milwaukee around 1.5 months and rue the day I did that. I had seen some bad reviews of Schlossmann’S Honda City before that, but thinking that those were some exceptional cases, I went ahead and bought this used car from them.
Before selling the car they were all smiles and promises. There were some minor problems in the car like keyless entry was not working etc and they said that you can come back later on and we will have them replaced / repaired for free, since the defect was there even before it got sold. ! Stupid Stupid us, we believed them ! We came back to the store after 1 week. The sales counter sent us to the service counter and the services folk told us that unless Sales asks them that these repairs should be done free, they cannot do it. We came back to the Sales counter and they paged the Salesman who apparently was in the store working with some other customers. Waited for 30 mins but no reply. Again spoke to the Sales counter and now some guy came over who introduced himself as the Manager. He then proceeds to tell us that no free repairs can be done and whatever the Salesman had told us was not true. On our protests, he mentioned that the Salesman had made some wrong promises regarding repairs, which they cannot keep now. I was surprised that such a big dealer had no business ethics and their behavior totally changed before and after the business.
Needless to say, I will never go back to this dealer again !!
Our lessons learnt – Never buy from Schlossmann’S Honda City but if due to some reason you still do, then make sure that you have everything done before you buy the car
So when I got my new 2007 Honda I got fog lights, DVD player and splash guards all which needed to be ordered and installed. About 1.5 weeks after the purchase I had to call and find out if the parts are in nobody called me. After being bounced form parts to service I finally got dropped. I call back the next day to find out the parts are in and there ready for the install again thanks for letting me know.
So I take the car in the morning and they state it will be done that day. Around 5:00 I get the call stating that the splash guards and fog lights are installed. Excellent news! But they had to send the car to another installer to get the DVD system installed and they didn’t finish today and it will be back tomorrow. The next day arrives and I get another call around 5:00, now saying they didn’t send the car and there going to install it, but now they need parts. What!?!
So now into the third day and they still don’t have all parts, it will be another day.
Now I find out the template and screen don’t match and they cut the headliner to the wrong size and it needs to be replaced. They finally get all the right stuff and finish the job on the 5th day. And yes my console is scratched and I had to drive my previous lease vehicle still which is over the miles so it cost $$ each day I didn’t have my new car.
The part I’m mostly frustrated with is the confusion of where my car was, it’s like be lied to, being told the car is not here and it was sent somewhere else just to find out it never left really pissed me off.
Am I happy? No
Did I get a phone call follow up about my service? No
Did I get anything besides the offer for a rental? No
Did they know I was not happy about driving my current lease over the miles? Yes
Will I go back for Service? No
In 3 years when I need to purchase 3 vehicles will I go to them? No
I purchased my 2002 Civic from them brand new. Never had problems with their service until June/July2006, then it was all down hill. My alternator went and I had the car towed to them on a Saturday morning. They said they’d call when it was repaired. Never got a call. When I finally called they said it was all set to go, but it was too late in the day for me to get there in time to pick it up (not to mention I had to track down someone else drive me there). I had to find someone to cart me around the rest of the weekend and carpool with on that Monday. When I went to pick up the car finally, the service man said that they tried to get a hold of me because I needed the battery replaced too and that they couldn’t do the work without my permission. My home phone number was clearly listed at the top of the invoice, but they only tried to call the cell phone number they had written down for me on the invoice (which they wrote incorrectly). So I had to wait another hour or so for them to install the battery. When the guy came back to get me he apologized for it taking so long, and then proceeded to tell me that since the battery was replaced, they had to reset my radio. Since they didn’t know the 5 digit code to reset it, they had to pull the entire radio out from the dash in order to get it. Anyone who buys a new Honda is told at the time of purchase to either memorize this 5 digit number or carry it with you so that should something like this happen, you can easily reset it. The moron serviceman didn’t even come out to see if I had it, he just ripped the whole radio out. And that was just the beginning. I had also asked them to check my driverside seatbelt, as it was not latching very well. They said they had to order it, so I went home and waited.
The seatbelt finally came in and I went to have it replaced. When the work was done, I got back in my car a noticed that the Escutcheon console around my shifter was chipped and there were scratches alongside the center of the console in front and in back of my seat. I immediately went back to the serviceman (who was the same one who ripped out my radio, I might add), and he told me it was impossible that their guys could have done this. I was irrate at that point. He went and got the manager who came out and told me it is quite possible that they did the damage because they have to remove the entire seat to replace the belt. What the heck? One guy says they couldn’t have done it, the next guy says yes they could. What great workers they have there! They had to special order the piece that was chipped, so again, I went home and waited. The part finally comes in, I go and wait an hour for it to be replaced and leave. Later that night, I go to leave and turn the headlights on for the first time only to find they installed the part backwards! The left side that should nonrmally light up with the the gear symbols did not. The right side of the plastic (that has nothing on it) lit up. Can we say furious? Again, I took the car back to have it fixed. They finally got it “right” and I left. After driving in it for a day or two, I thought the lit up symbols looked different, but thought maybe I was just crazy. Then I went out with my mom (who has the exact same car), and noticed that her’s lit up differently. The interior gauges of our cars are supposed to light up pale green, and the center console lights up the same color to match. The new center console they put in my car lights up orange and red! They didn’t even order the part in the correct color. I haven’t even bothered to bring this up to them because I’m never going back. The part is there, it’s functioning, it’s not pretty with the rest of the green lights, but there’s nothing more that I’m willing to do at this point. What should have been a simple repair took over a month to remedy and wasted more of my time than I’d like to know. Decide for yourself whether or not you’d like them to repair your own vehicle.
I took my car to this dealership for a squeaking noise. The technician greeted me warmly, pushed on my car and said “I think it is the joint in the front”. Thankfully I have a Dad who is a mechanic and told me to get a second opinion. Mind you another Honda dealership told me they would do the work for $100 less without looking at the car. I took the car to two different mechanics who could not find anything wrong with the car. I will never visit this dealership again!!! They lie and overcharge.
Schlossman’s Honda City in Milwaukee WI is a place to avoid, do not deal with them at all. Avoid this dealership like the plague, I bought a civic from them, and had nothing but problems from the get go. The salesperson Genevieve did not have our car ready on the pick up day, when we had signed and agreed to purchase, and was a huge pain in the butt. We actually asked for another salesperson because she was then quite rude, and seemed preoccupied with some internal dealership contest that would get her more money. She totally wasted our time, was rude, and even confrontational. The only reason we got the car from them is because the finance manager stepped in with a better rate.
Got the car, with credit to Honda itself, is an excellent value, reliable, and even fun to drive for a car at this price point. Honda is great, Schlossmans is not. 😥
