told car was in passing condition a week later maint light comes on as well i noticed a noise coming from the front brake area given a appt for a week after i call it in . they forgot to reset maint light after oil change so another trip and more time sitting at the dealer then when asked about the noise told no problem just get a thicker brake pad in the future . 3 months later a 300 dollar brake job needed , call port city given the run around and told “look you bough t used car what do you expect” I expected that when i brought the car back last time this would have been noticed and taken care of , Th e call back person was rude and totally unprofessionl never go here !!!!!
When they learned I had found my own loan arrangements, they added the payoff on the old vehicle to cost of the new vehicle. They previously agreed to pay off the old loan. Then when I cancelled the sale, they refused to refund my deposit. This all transpired over the Labor Day Weekend so no losses or damages were incurred by the dealership.
my mom went to buy a used vehicle. She put down $2000. She was told the price included the payoff for her vehicle. When she went back, they added $1500 for the payoff. When she told them the deal was off, they refused to give her her deposit back. They said it was to cover their losses. What losses? Bunch of used car salemsmen ripping off a 75 year old lady!
my mom went to buy a 2010 Town & Country minivan. She was rushed into putting down $2000. She was told the price included the payoff for her trade-in vehicle. When she went back, they added $1500 for the payoff. When she told them the deal was off, they refused to give her her deposit back. They said it was to cover their losses. What losses? Bunch of used car salemsmen ripping off a senior citizen!
My lights went off on Friday plus other things needed attention and I had to go back to NY next day. I went to a few places but no car repair shop will fix on the same day besides promised cost of work and parts was up to $1000!
Somebody recommended and I went to Port City Chrysler Dodge
155 Greenleaf Ave
Portsmouth, NH 03801 WOW! Great experience! All problems solved quickly and professionally. Exellent attitude and treatment. Very reasonable price. Nice and quiet waiting area. If I ever have to fix my car again I will only go there. Thank you guys!:)
We learned quickly that not all mechanics are equal despite working for the same company. Port City could not remedy the problem twice, misdiagnosing and misinterpreting the codes. With the time, $ and so forth with towing! no car loan was even requested by us! Still, the Engine had power loss, bucking, engine panel light flashing and ringing. Had car towed to Southern Maine Motors where it was originally purchased. Mechanic remedied the problem but found unusual debris of dirt and oil around the crankshaft sensors which were said to have been replaced at Port City! When we asked Port City service personnel about this, they deny any truth in the debris. Furthermore, they assured us and doubted that Southern Maine Motors would have fixed the problem, which was spark plugs! Guess what, it was fixed! Port City service department as well as the owner and management lack the good faith skills essential for the purported Five Star plaques that they boasts. Very disappointed and will check BBB!
I dropped off my pickup to Port City for some maintenance. After three days, NO ONE had called me to tell me what was wrong or how much it would cost. Then, when I called to find out, they told me I was wrong and they had called me and left a message. At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt… until… I went to pick up the truck and my battery was dead and the coolant system was completely empty. Their answer? … “we called you and told you there were things wrong with your coolant and battery but you denied any further service”. Again… that NEVER happened. Bottom line: They claim adequate communication in order to cover their own ass but refuse to actually take responsibility for dropping the ball. They have POOR customer service and completely disregard the maintenance customers. I will NEVER return to this dealership for any reason. Adam
same treatment I got
My fiance’s car broke down unexpectedly, so we went to the place I got my car two years ago. We found exactly the type of car he wanted and were told it was “ready to go” with a new inspection sticker and a fresh oil change. We bought the car together. The next day the check engine light came on. A trip to the mechanic showed the following from a simple inspection:
-o2 sensor, the code which was pulled is “p2272 bank 2 stuck lean” (needs to be replaced)
-The battery failed the load test (nearly dead and needs to be replaced)
-Coolant tubes to oil filter will need replacement soon, coolant system lost pressure
-Front rotors show old rust pits/rust (need to be replaced soon)
-Rear rotors look rusty
-Brake pads don’t appear to have any grease on them or the slides
-Serpentine belt is cracked (this is a “gray area” inspection fail, depending on the mechanic, and needs to be replaced)
-Power steering fluid is low and brown (and possibly leaking)
-T case fluid is low and dark
-Rear dif fluid is dark
-Transmission fluid is brown/smells (needs a flush or transmission may be ruined)
-Flex pipe is coming apart, black trail from exhaust showing (possible exhaust leak, which is an inspection fail item)
-Oil filter needs to be replaced soon (apparently that wasn’t done with the oil change)
In addition to these the left front brakes are wearing unevenly which means the calipers may be going. The mechanic estimated it would cost us $1,500 to $2,000 to do the repairs to the vehicle, and we just bought it! None of these problems were disclosed to us before the sale.
My has spoken with the dealer, Doug Newton, and the service department several times since the sale. The Sales Manager, John Thompson was extremely rude and told Jay they would only fix the o2 censor and “top off the fluids”. The only option he would give us is to either pay them $1,000 to fix everything else or trade the car in for a more expensive car! When my fiance repeatedly asked why these problems were not disclosed to him the Sales Manager would not answer the question.
We have sent an email to the owner of the dealership, Frank Bryant, and failing any remedy we will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and looking at small claims as an option. This is completely unacceptable and we don’t want the vehicle anymore and want nothing more to do with this horrid dealership!
