Poor service department with a very rude service manager, Frank. Steer clear of them and buy elsewhere
I brought my 2004 Ford Expedition into Pleasantville Ford to have my brakes checked. I was present while my car was inspected. The Service Manager, Wayne informed me that my vehicle needed all new brakes as the brakes were “Glazed” and proceeded to inform me of other items that were also needed at this time. The other items included spark plugs and a change of my front and rear differential fluid. The total estimate was in excess of $1300.I sought a second opinion and estimate on my brakes as they was only 13k miles on them since they had been replaced. The service shop informed me that not only were my brakes not “Glazed’ but they still had 90% of the original material. They told me that glazing would cause both the rotor and pad to have a sort of haze on them – they brought me into the shop and showed me that my brakes did not have any evidence of this. I began to question the other items on the estimate and referred to my owners service manual, which notes that the 1st spark plug change is due at 100k miles, my vehicle had 72k miles at the time of the estimate. I reviewed my service receipts to check if any of the other items listed had been performed in the recent services, and found that both my front & rear differentials had their fluid changed less than 8k miles earlier and per the service manual did not need replacing for another 12k miles. I went to the dealership to ask Wayne why his estimate would include these items, and he became belligerent and would not accept that either his technician made a mistake or that he may have been wrong. When asked about the spark plugs, he noted “you can’t go by the service schedule, we change them at least 25-30k miles sooner” which surprised me that a Ford representative would go against the factory issued guidelines. I asked for a refund of my $51.00 paid to which he stated he would not refund my money, I informed him that I would take this up w/ the manager / owner and file a formal complaint as I feel his actions were unprofessional and rude.
I placed a security deposit with Pleasantville Ford, New York, to buy a new car. When I later tried to cancel the purchase and get a refund, as was my right to do so, the dealership started lying and stalling me about all kinds of delays and sad stories. They were actually waiting for the car to be manufactured and delivered, so that I would become liable for it! Now I am taking them to court to get my money back! Don’t make the mistake of using them like I did!!!
