I purchased a Ford Vehicle in June this year 2010 from a dealership in Tennessee. When I purchased my vehicle, of course I was offered to get my first oil change for free. I moved to San Diego California in September because my husband got stationed there. While in San Diego it came time for my 1st oil change so I contacted a Ford Dealership to see if they would still provide a free oil change considering the circumstances. I originally called North County Ford in Vista because I thought it was the closest Ford dealer to me. I talked to a person in service that said they would be happy to give me my 1st oil change for free. He asked for my address and that’s when he said that I am much closer to Perry Ford. He said that they are a good Dealership. I called Perry Ford and talked to Christy(Service Dept Mgr) and she immediately said that they couldn’t do it because they are not the dealer that sold me the car and explained that dealerships are seperate. I asked for the GM of the dealership and she transferred me back to the front desk. I was then transferred to the GM John Ham. After explaining the whole situation, he proceeded to tell me that The dealership that sold me the car made a profit off of me and Perry Ford didn’t. He stated that with me being a “Ford Employee”(I had mentioned that to him during the converstation), I should know that dealerships are privately owned and that they don’t have to honor what another dealership tell me. I explained that i understood that but it is Good Customer Service to do so and asked why did it not seem to be an issue for the Service Dept at North County Ford in Vista. He proceeded to say he doesn’t know how they do things in Vista but if he pays for it who is going to right the check for it? I told him that i will be reporting this very poor customer service and will take my car “ALL THE WAY TO NORTH COUNTY FORD FROM NOW ON” for my service needs. IT IS A SHAME THAT A GM AT A DEALERSHIP DOESN’T RECOGNIZE WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT TIME TO OFFER YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!…NOW HE HAS LOST A CUSTOMER AND POTENTIAL CUSTOMER THAT I COULD HAVE REFERRED TO THEM ON THE A PLAN(BECAUSE I AM AN EMPLOYEE)….OH WELL…MOVING RIGHT ALONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND MY BUSINESS!!!!!!:p
I always thought that going to the dealership for service was the safe bet. I was originally impressed with Perry Ford for oil changes. However, when my SUV was due for its 30,000 maintenance, Tony the service manager quoted me at $650. Thank god I called my husband prior to agreeing to the service. My husband spoke with Tony on the phone who again quoted us at $650. We called North County Ford to price compare and they offered us the same exact service for $150. Its obvious the guy saw me for a sucker and tried to scam me out of $ (and I almost fell for it!) I will absolutely never go back to Perry, no matter how convenient the location is.
